A Guide to Using CBD
The Benefits of Using CBD
At Bullhead Botanics, our first priority is to help educate other adults and advocate for the safe use of natural health remedies. Cannabidiol (CBD) is a non-intoxicating cannabis compound derived from the Hemp plant. Our bodies rely on an Endocannabinoid system that relays messages between cells which have roles in how the body deals with many processes like pain, stress, sleep and immune function. CBD is commonly referred to as the "Master Regulator" of the human body. CBD is chemically similar to your body's own Endocannabinoids, which is why it can interact with the Endocannibinoid receptors and can help stabilize and return some of these functions back to homeostasis. In other words, if something is out of balance, CBD and other cannabinoids can help stabilize and provide relief, whether it's pain, mood, stress, or sleep.
Where is Quality CBD derived from?
High quality CBD is extracted from the Hemp plant by qualified personnel using complex systems to produce pure, lab tested extractions. It is NOT a simple manual process that should be performed in the basement or garage. Other brands will often label their products with "Hemp Oil" or "Hemp Extract" without ever labeling the actual amount of CBD in the product. Hemp oil is NOT interchangeable with CBD. Unfortunately, it is often being sold as having the same benefits. CBD is the active cannabinoid derived from the flowers, leaves and stems of the Hemp plant, whereas Hemp oil is often pressed from the seeds and usually contains little to no CBD. Hemp oil is similar to flax or linseed oil.
At Bullhead Botanics, we only use cannabis extracts from GMP verified suppliers, who provide lab results for potency and purity. We will always transparently communicate what type of CBD and how much CBD is contained in our products.
Types of CBD:
THC and CBD are by far the most well known and studied cannabinoids out there. But there are more than 113 that have been identified, in addition to other phytochemicals. There are 3 main forms of CBD extract available, Full spectrum, Broad spectrum and Isolate.
Full Spectrum- Contains all of the extracts naturally found in the cannabis plant, this includes terpenes, essential vitamins, proteins, fatty acids, as well as small amounts of THC and other naturally occurring elements from the hemp plant. Many choose full spectrum for the "Entourage Effect, which is the term used to describe the enhanced effects of cannabinoids, such as CBD, when multiple compounds synergistically work together rather than alone. All of our Full Spectrum products contain less than 0.3% THC per federal limitations. It is not recommended to use full spectrum products if you are subject to drug testing.
Broad Spectrum- Contains most of the extracts naturally found in the cannabis plants, but often contains very little to no THC. It is the middle ground between Full Spectrum and Isolate. Most people choose Broad Spectrum when they desire an entourage effect of many different cannabinoids, but do not want to consume any THC. The risk of testing positive for THC is greatly reduced with Broad Spectrum products, but individual lab results should still be reviewed to be certain on what you're consuming.
Isolate- CBD isolate is the purely extracted form of CBD. It contains no other cannabinoids and is 99% pure. It is the preferred type of product for anyone subjected to drug testing.
How Much CBD Is Right For Me?
When we talk about the strength of a CBD product, it's understanding how much CBD (Cannabidiol) is included per serving. Knowing the concentration of CBD in a product is critical for proper dosing. We choose tablets as our preferred method of delivery is that it takes the guesswork out of dosing, and allows users to repeat or accurately increase doses in measurable increments. This is not always true for vapes, tinctures, or gummies. We test our product concentration for every batch produced. You can view our COA (Certificates of Analysis) page to reference current test results prior to purchasing a product.
Recommended dosing instructions for each product can be found in their product descriptions. For first time users, we typically recommend a starting dose of 10mg-25mg to see how your body reacts. Always start out with a small dose and work your way up slowly and gradually. Everyone's biochemistry is different. You can always take more, but you can never take less. Delivery Methods Bullhead Botanics Offers:
Tablets/Chewables
Our tablets are a unique product in the CBD market, they offer a quick, easy, and accurate ingestible CBD delivery method. Tablets allow users to carry and consume their CBD almost anywhere, and they won't leak or melt like a tincture or gummy. They come in a variety of flavors, shapes, sizes, and concentrations to offer our customers flexibility in how they supplement with CBD. Studies have shown that ingestible CBD is ideal for supporting mood, anxiety, and relaxation in smaller doses, while larger doses support pain and inflammation. Check out our CBD Tablets and Chewables here.
Cosmetics/Topicals
Studies have shown CBD can be absorbed in the skin. However, it is important to understand that this technique is much different than ingesting CBD sublingually or via inhalation. When CBD is absorbed topically it does not enter the bloodstream but rather connects with nearby cannabinoid receptors through the skin pores. Our cosmetics and topicals are combined with many other natural ingredients to help support other health and beauty functions. All functional ingredients and why they are used are in the product's descriptions. Check out our Cosmetics and Topicals here.
Pet Products
Pets have cannabinoid receptors in their bodies just like us, and can possibly benefit from the same mood, pain, and inflammation support that CBD may offer. All of our pet products are made to the same high standards that our human products are made to, using only pet safe ingredients. Every pet is different, and not all dogs and cats will see the same results from using CBD products. Talk to your veterinarian if you have any concerns or questions about how your pet is reacting to a specific product. Check out our Pet Products here.
